The library now hosts a seed library right inside our building, where visitors can take up to 3 packets of seeds at a time to plant in their personal gardens, free of charge. Just come inside the library, and go to the seed library in the first card catalog under the bulletin boards to find the vegetable, herb, fruit or flower seeds you need.
Our SEED LIBRARY has been a huge hit so far! We have given out hundreds of packets of seeds to members of our community since the seed library launched in March of 2024! The seed library is offered in grateful partnership with the New Providence Sustainability Committee, and runs on donations of seeds for use within the community.
Seed Donations
We’d love to accept your surplus seeds. Please leave seed donations in the front pocket of the Seed Library sign on top of the Seed Library.
If you’re dropping off unused seeds, keep them in their original seed envelope. If you are donating harvested seeds, make sure they have completely dried, and place them in a labeled ziploc bag (name, variety and year harvested).
The library does not accept seeds harvested from hybrid plants. If you are unsure about whether or not your plants are hybrid varieties or not, please do not donate their harvested seeds.
