Borrowing From Other Libraries

Borrowing From Other Libraries

MAIN LIBRARY ALLIANCE (MAIN):

The New Providence Memorial Library is a member of the MAIN Library Alliance, a group of over 50 libraries in nearby communities. This consortium allows New Providence Library cardholders to place holds on items from any member library in our catalog, then have those materials delivered here. Additionally, your NPML library card gives you the ability to borrow materials in person from any MAIN member library and return them at any MAIN member library as well. For more information about how this library consortium works, and view the full list of member libraries, please see our MAIN FAQs page.

RECIPROCAL BORROWING

The New Providence Memorial Library also has in-person, reciprocal borrowing agreements with libraries in nearby communities. The agreements, MUF and MURAL, allow each library to set limitations on what can be borrowed and which services can be used by out-of-town borrowers. Before you visit a MUF or MURAL library, verify what forms of ID are necessary along with your valid NPML card (no fines over $10.00, and not expired). Items returned to libraries other than the loaning library will remain on the patron’s record until returned to the loaning library, possibly accruing fines.

MORRIS-UNION FEDERATION OF LIBRARIES (MUF):

MIDDLESEX UNION RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT LIBRARIES (MURAL):

Berkeley Heights, Carteret, Clark, Cranbury, Cranford, Dunellen, East Brunswick, Edison, Elizabeth, Fanwood, Garwood, Highland Park, Hillside, Jamesburg, Kenilworth, Linden, Long Branch, Metuchen, Middlesex, Milltown, Monroe Township, Mountainside, New Brunswick, North Brunswick, Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, Piscataway, Plainfield, Plainsboro, Rahway, Roselle, Roselle Park, Sayreville, Scotch Plains, South Amboy, South Brunswick, South Plainfield, South River, Spotswood, Springfield, Summit, Union, Westfield, Woodbridge
